You choose the refresh interval: once a day, several times a day, or manually by clicking a button. It's all flexible.

Loading NBU Exchange Rates into BAS / 1C: How It Works and Why It Matters for Your Business

If your company works with foreign currency – purchasing goods abroad, issuing invoices in dollars or euros, settling with non-residents – having the current NBU exchange rate in your accounting software is not an option, it’s a basic necessity. An error of just a few kopecks in the rate can turn into a significant discrepancy when dealing with large volumes. And manual entry is a human factor that can simply be eliminated.

IntegraBAS sets up automatic loading of NBU exchange rates into BAS and 1C – quickly, without unnecessary dependencies or additional services. Data is pulled directly from the official website of the National Bank of Ukraine via an open API and written to the currency directory of your program at the right time, without any user involvement.

Why Manual Rate Entry Is a Problem

It may seem like opening the NBU website and copying three numbers takes two minutes. But behind that simplicity lie several real risks:

    • An employee forgot to update the rate – and all day long documents are processed using yesterday’s value.
    • A typo during entry – and the export or report contains incorrect amounts.
    • Several managers each enter the rate their own way – and the database ends up with inconsistencies.
    • The rate was updated mid-day, but the program still shows the morning value.

All of these situations are real and happen regularly. Automatic loading of the NBU exchange rate into 1C or BAS eliminates this problem entirely – data is always up to date, always from an official source, always at the right time.

How the NBU API Integration Works

The National Bank of Ukraine provides an open API through which any program can request official exchange rates for a specific date. We use this tool to establish a direct data exchange between the NBU website and your BAS or 1C configuration.

Here’s how it works: at a scheduled time – for example, at 9:00 AM every business day – the program automatically sends a request to the NBU API, receives the current values for selected currencies, and writes them to the directory. From that moment on, all new documents are generated with the correct exchange rate. No additional actions are required from the user.

Important: retrieving exchange rates via the NBU API in 1C and BAS does not require an ITS or RDI service subscription. This is a fully independent solution.

    Compatibility: BAS, 1C 8.3 and 1C 7.7

We work with various configurations and platform versions. NBU exchange rate loading is available for:

    • BAS – Ukrainian configurations: BAS Accounting, BAS Small Business, BAS ERP, BAS Trade and others.
    • 1C 8.3 – Enterprise Accounting, Trade Management, UPP and other standard configurations.
    • 1C 7.7 – for those still working on the older platform. Loading NBU exchange rates into 1C 7.7 is also supported, taking into account the specifics of this version.

If you have a non-standard or customized configuration – we will clarify compatibility before starting work.

    What Can Be Customized

The solution is flexible. IntegraBAS adapts the loading parameters for each client:

    • Currency selection – only the ones your business needs: USD, EUR, PLN, GBP and others from the NBU list.
    • Schedule – loading once a day, multiple times, only on business days, or manually on demand.
    • Notifications – optionally, you can set up a Telegram alert if loading fails with an error.
    • Fallback source – if the NBU API is temporarily unavailable, a backup data retrieval option can be configured.

    Who Benefits Most

Automatic NBU exchange rate loading is especially relevant for those who:

    • Work with imported goods and regularly revalue inventory balances.
    • Issue invoices in foreign currency and settle accounts with non-residents.
    • Use multiple currencies simultaneously and want them to always be up to date.
    • Want to eliminate manual operations wherever they can be fully automated.
